Wow, so I can't believe it's already through half of another week. Where do the days go?
This past weekend my in-laws were in town. We had a nice visit. They, of course, loved playing with the baby. Taran had a meeting for work and had to drive to Louisiana early on Friday morning. I spent most of the day frantically cleaning to make the house somewhat presentable. The in-laws are forgiving, but I still feel bad if the house is a mess. Taran's parents arrived an hour or so before he returned. We ordered some food that he picked up on his way home.
Saturday was a bit busier. Taran's mom and I went to my regular mommy meeting. I had kinda told on her at a previous meeting about her being an IBCLC, so the group leader, Karen, kept referring to her for breastfeeding questions. Luckily, she loves her job, so she's more than happy to help anyone with questions. While we were at the meeting Taran and his dad took a trip to the hardware store and picked up a super cool old-time no-power push lawn mower and some red and purple petunias for the garden. We spend the afternoon pulling out some of the old dried snap-dragons out of the flower beds and planting the petunias. They look so much nicer. Noah's new fancy car seat arrived. Tran and I were about to kill each other in the process of installing it. I had actually heard this was a problem with that particular seat - installation is the one difficult aspect of that seat. We got it in though so Noah can now be in an appropriately sized car seat since he was super close to being way too big for his first one. Taran cooked dinner that evening. Yum. I love when he cooks. He's so much better at it than I am.
Sunday, we went to church and stopped by a neighborhood craft show on the way home. It looked like a lot of the same vendors that were at a show in the same location in November when his parents were down here. I'm not sure if they have it at just those two times a year or what, but we'll see. It provided a nice activity to do and it was such a nice day too. Taran's parents headed out Sunday afternoon to return to Texarkana.
Monday, Taran got called in to work. He had to drive to Lousiana to run some tests in a lab. When he got there though, they weren't quite ready for him. When they finally got the materials together for him to run the tests, they were all off, because they had rushed, and had to start all over. He was working so late that he ended up staying in a hotel on Monday night and driving back on Tuesday.
Yesterday was relatively uneventful. When Taran returned from work, he watched the baby and managed to get him to take a nap which was great because he had been cranky and driving me crazy. I was able to take advantage of the time and bake some sugar cookies for my mommy meeting today. My sister, Karen, called and we had a nice chat. It had been forever since we talked and we were able to "compare notes" since her baby, Macie, is three weeks younger than Noah. It is nice to have an excuse to talk baby with someone who cares. Yes, I get to do that at my mommy meeting, but since I have a lack of other conversation topics lately, it is nice to know I can continue in other places too.
So, today we had our mommy meeting. The cookies were a hit which is a good thing because I have plenty left at home and I certainly don't need to eat an entire batch of cookies by myself. We'll see what the rest of the day brings. I still can't believe that the week is half over.
