My first real post! The previous one was simply my intro. I've waited until the end of the day so I can provide a summary and make it seem like I do more than sit around. I wish myself good luck with that!
Ok, the last day of 2009. What did I do? Sit around.
Let's start over.
This week has been a little eventful comparatively. Monday morning, early, Taran left to go to the heliport and head out to the offshore rig he's been working on. It is always sad to see him go. I got up and saw him off. Baby Noah also got up, and didn't go back to sleep for several hours. I think I was able to nurse him back to sleep finally, but it didn't last and we finally got up. That night, I went to bed much earlier than usual. I like to stay up for a little bit after Noah goes down so I can have some "me" time, but Monday, it wasn't happening.
Over this week I've also spent time causing drama on my mommy site. Finding myself bored fairly often as my habit of procrastination reaches an embarrassing peak, I have gotten sucked in to CafeMom. This is a networking site targeted specifically to moms. You create your own profile page where you can set up information about yourself, post pictures, and add widgets and journal posts. A big portion of the site is the discussion groups where moms can vent or discuss mom topics or not mom topics, whatever they want. You can also play games or chat with friends. In any case... So I started this thread in one of the generic discussion groups (many of them are for specific topics or particular types of mothering, etc.) because I was bored. I left myself open for people who wanted advice on pet nutrition. I had actually posted this thread in another group but activity dried up and I enjoyed it in the first group, so I started it again. I had another mom, whose nutrition opinions couldn't be more different than mine, start answering questions. Me being the stubborn, pigheaded person I am (who me?) couldn't let this go, so I had to respond to her comments and discuss why I disagreed. I was tactful, but it went back and forth with her trying to say how I was wrong and me replying with what I know to be true. Finally she left the thread - must not have had a good response. Ok, more likely, I out-stubborned her. Imagine that.
There is more activity going on at the new house next door. The neighbors had a fridge delivered today. I'm thinking of doing the seriously cliché thing of baking brownies and bringing them over to them, "Hi, I'm your neighbor!" I don't know if people actually do that, but I have a serious urge. I'll have to see when they actually move in if I still have the courage.
The neighbors have been setting off fireworks all week actually. Not just tonight, although there has been more tonight than earlier in the week (no, really?). Sadly, I can't really see them around the houses, but the baby is down for the night and I can't really walk around and go see them. :-(
But no one cares about my neighbors. The baby is doing well. Still cute as can be. He's spending more time up on his hands and knees these days. He moves around quite a bit just rolling over and scooting (backwards). It'll be interesting when he finally figures out crawling.
Ok, so I've reached a point when I feel I'm no longer interesting. That assumes I was interesting to begin with. More accurately, I feel I have nothing else to report, so to speak. Hopefully my future posts will be better. Here's wishin'! 'Til then... Have a great New Year!
